For one of the most relaxing and beautiful drives in the country, Scenic Highway 30A can be congested during the busy summer vacation season.
When trying to make it to an event at Celebration Hall on time, or simply get from 30-A Suites to the beach or your favorite Seaside lunch spot, this can occasionally pose some irritating travel planning.
Who wants to stress over traffic when they are on their way to the beach or a big event?!
The beautiful South Walton County Gulf of Mexico coastline continues to draw millions of visitors each year.
With more people, comes more traffic and congestion. As our area has grown, so too have our options when it comes to transportation.
This 2018 summer season, the Walton County Tourist Development Council (TDC) has started a pilot parking program to bring some relief to travelers. Through Labor Day, residents and visitors can use the parking at Topsail Hill State Park, just down the road from Celebration Hall, for free.
One forward thinking local business has also stepped up to the plate to provide better transportation on 30A as well.
Meet The Turtle!
Home to four species of nesting sea turtles, the beaches of South Walton are known for residents who love of our flippered friends. The Sunshine 30A Trolley, also known as The Turtle, runs seven days a week.
It provides both a fun and convenient travel alternative around 30A all summer long!
In an attempt to ease congestion and encourage adoption of more mass transportation options, the 30A Trolley will run every day from noon until midnight between a number of locations.
With state-of-the-art GPS tracking, riders see the location of the Sunshine 30A Trolley LIVE from either their desktop or mobile browsers as it travels along the route.
Free to ride and fun to boot, the Sunshine 30A Trolley public transit program is privately funded by generous community leaders who understand that for communities that have thrived so much from great community layout planning, the next step in our evolution and development has to be mass transportation.
These pioneers are investing in the future of the region, and benefiting visitors and local residents in the process.
